Is Being Poor A Sin?

Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, shocked the religious establishment of his day when he said, "It is a sin to be poor." He believed and taught that, when we establish ourselves in the consciousness of God, the whole Universe moves into us with its abundance. His statement is not unlike Jesus' when He said, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things be yours as well." (Matt. 6:33)

Victims or Not
We are not victims of the times, circumstances or bad luck. The study of the spiritual laws reveals that there is much we can do, for ourselves, our country and world. The free flow of riches can only be stopped from within. You and I must, as Henry David Thoreau said, "Keep moving in the direction of your dreams."

True Prosperity
When we are consciously centered in the universal flow, we experience inner direction and the unfoldment of creative activity. Things come too, but prosperity is not just having things. It is the consciousness that attracts the things.

Laughter And Giving Thanks Eliminate Severe Back Pain

Severe Back Pain
Today, October 20, 2010, a patient presented, at a free clinic, with severe back pain. She had slipped on ice and fell hard on her lower back. I know this is going to be hard to believe, but it was in Phoenix on October 5, 2010. We had a violent hailstorm that day. She went to the ER. The results were inconclusive. A similar fall, three years prior, resulted in a fractured vertebra. While this was observed, at the ER, there was no new fracture. She had taken narcotics just to get to the free clinic.

Background
She met with the medical director. He indicated that there was nothing that he could do. He told her that the ER personnel did more than he would be able to do with the resources he has available. He suggested that if her pain was a great as she was saying, she should return to the ER. However, before going to the ER, he wanted her to see Rev. Ray, who was volunteering at the clinic.

The Steps
The Rev. Ray saw her for about 20 minutes. Through an interpreter, he helped her eliminate her pain in three steps: 1. He had her laugh. 2. He guided her through a process of giving thanks. 3. He had her give thanks for her health in her own words. She walked out of the clinic, under her own power, without any pain.

Prayer Results-Electrifying

Businesswoman¹
A Businesswoman was in a rut in her business and personal life. A friend told her. "Prayer is the one thing that can blast you out of the rut you are in." The friend told her to decree for five minutes every day: "Of myself I cannot do it, but the Christ within me can and is performing miracles in my mind, body and affairs here and now." (p. 3-4)

Within a week, amazing results began. Old conditions and relationships quickly faded away. New doors opened in her career. Her personal life changed too.

Shopkeeper
In another example a shopkeeper in England suddenly found herself in dire financial circumstances. She prayed: "All financial doors are now open to me. All financial channels are now free to me. Divine substance now appropriately manifests for me." She prayed and at the "eleventh hour" a stranger walked into her shop. As he shopped, they chatted. The conversation revealed that he was a bank manager. Although her own bank had refused her a loan, this bank manager offered his services. (p. 100-101)

Healing Pain With P.L.I.T.

Rapid Relief
Wednesday, 9/22/10, at the Mission of Mercy clinic, Phoenix, AZ, a laborer with wrist pain and a grandmother with multiple areas of pain (knees, wrist, elbow, finger, shin) as well as reduced hand strength left the clinic at full strength and without any pain. How did they do that?

They accomplished this by being guided by Rev. Ray to (P.L.I.T.):

Give themselves Permission to get better.
Utilize Laughter and Imagery and,,.
Most importantly, giving Thanks for the improvement.

All this was accomplished through an interpreter. Both clients were Hispanic and spoke no English.

Healing Back Pain-Bulging Discs with Sciatica

Back and Sciatica Pain-Bulging Discs
A client with back and sciatica pain from bulging discs entered the free Mission of Mercy mobile medical clinic. She was triaged then met with the attending physician. She told him that she had been to other doctors but nothing helped with the pain. After listening to her story and talking with her, he prescribed some medication for her pain.

She meets with injury/pain specialist
The physician asked her if she would like to meet with a injury/pain specialist that was volunteering that day. She accepted and met with him for 15-20 minutes. While sitting, he guided her through a pain management technique, called "Talking Away Pain™ (TAP™)" (http://www.reliefforyou.com/page7.html ). When she was done, her pain was gone. He had never even mentioned her pain, but it was gone.

The specialist then asked her stand to check if there was any pain or discomfort in this position. Upon standing, she noticed a little pain. Without telling her what to do, her told her to take away the rest of the pain and she did.

Possible and Probable Healings
We are wondrous beings endowed with a wondrous mind, body and spirit. It is possible to be healed of whatever condition that you have, instantaneously. Is it probable? That we do not know. But, it is possible. Let Rev. Ray help you.

Put God First

"People understand this to mean that if they will put God first, then they will get a nice house, a nice car, plenty of money and so on. The problem with this kind of thinking is that they still are equating certain outer things with the consciousness of being happy. The law instead promises that if we put God first then we will draw to ourselves whatever uniquely matches our individual conditions so as to awaken a sense from within of fulfillment."

Experiment:

"For a week let go of anxieties about how you will obtain what you think you need from the material world in order to be happy. Make a special effort to put God first and be open to receive what He knows you most need. Affirm that you will trust God to bring you that you have need of.

His Musings on money (from the book)

For a man to have money, even in large sums, is not an inconsistent thing…We preach against covetousness, in the pulpit…until the collection-basket goes around, and then we almost swear at the people because they don’t give more money. Oh, the inconsistency of such doctrines as that! (p. 20)

Money is power, and you ought to be reasonably ambitious to have it. You ought because you can do more good with it than you could without it. Money printed your Bible, money builds your churches, money sends your missionaries, and money pays your preachers, and you would not have many of them, either, if you did not pay them.

(Asked) Don’t you sympathize with the poor people? Of course I do…but the number of poor who are to be sympathized with is very small...It is all wrong to be poor, anyhow…Love is the grandest thing on God’s earth, but fortunate the lover who has plenty of money. Money is power, money is force, money will do good as well as harm. In the hands of good men and women it could accomplish, and it has accomplished, good. (p. 21-22)

It is no help to a young man or woman to inherit money. It is no help to your children to leave them money, but if you leave them education, if you leave them Christian and noble character, if you leave them a wide circle of friends, if you leave them an honorable name, it is far better than that they should have money...One of the best things in our life is when a young man has earned his own living...(p. 30)

Failures, Disappointments or Opportunity

"When our conscious plans or intentions are denied, it may be due to the fact that God has a different plan for our lives. What we consciously perceive as a 'disappointment' is really an indicator that God has an 'appointment' of us with some other experience which more closely follows His plan for our lives in the earth," writes Mark Thurston in his book "Experiments in Practical Spirituality."

He suggests an experiment: "If you find yourself being disappointed in conditions or others, change your attitude by using this affirmation: 'For every apparent disappointment, God has an appointment for me with something greater' and look for the gift that can come your way with a change in attitude and new receptivity."

Prayer Healed Her

A woman with arthritic condition steadily worsened despite fine medical treatment. There were also disharmony and financial problems. She decided to practice daily prayer, meditation and spiritual study. First her home life became more harmonious. Then she received news that certain insurance and salary benefits, previously denied would now be paid. As she continued daily praying her pain diminished, she gained new strength and vitality. Intercessory Prayer Succeeds
